Walnut Residence
In the suburbs of Los Angeles is a private house with original perforated screen. The whole layout and interior housing developed under the concept of pine trees growing on the site. Many elements of the decor reminiscent of round slices of a tree. In the town of Venice is a private house called Walnut Residence, developed by the company Modal Design. During the construction it was necessary to fulfill the main condition for the customer not to take down a huge pine tree growing on the site. Therefore, the architects designed a house directly under the branches of a tree. Planning Walnut Residence is quite simple: two residential units and garage. One unit is built right under the overhanging pine branches and the second block (top floor) is perpendicular to the first one. Part of the facade is covered with a screen of perforated steel sheets. It protects the interior space from prying eyes of passers-by, and effectively dissipate direct sunlight without keeping the rooms too warm.
